Transportation into Gwaii Haanas for Kayakers

Because of the vast size of the Gwaii Haanas area, most kayakers choose to get dropped off and/or picked up by our high-speed Zodiacs, which can transport you and your kayaks deep into Gwaii Haanas to make the most of your paddling time. We are also happy to provide marine transportation services for purposes other than kayaking.

We travel on fast, stable Hurricane Zodiac boats, which are perfectly suited to the variable weather and sea conditions around Haida Gwaii. These vessels are open to the elements, which means you must dress in warm clothing and rain gear. We provide an additional raincoat to throw on over your layers, but it is also essential to have your own warm clothing. The ride can be bumpy at times, and discussing any health or fitness concerns (such as back problems) with us before booking is very important.

We launch our boats from Moresby Camp, the closest boat launch to Gwaii Haanas, a public recreation site located about one hour from Sandspit on Moresby Island. We will pick you up in our van from Sandspit or from the Alliford Bay ferry landing, or you can arrange to meet us at Moresby Camp.

I’d just like to say thanks for the great organization on the kayak rentals and transportation to & from Gwaii Haanas. We had to make some last-minute changes ... and the Moresby staff went out of their way to get us to the ferry and then later deliver some luggage. We really appreciated the effort and won’t hesitate to recommend you to others.
